*SUMMARY:*
We are currently seeking a casual *Pharmacy Tech* to join our Hospital Community Pharmacy team. This position is casual, no benefits, day/evening shift, and rotating weekends.
*Purpose of this position:*Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel
* Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies
* Prepackages, prepares, labels, and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist
* Maintains cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactions
* Prepares daily deposits for the cashier’s office
* Bills and credits patient medications
* Stocks inventory in Pharmacy
* Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications
* Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled
* Files prescriptions and reports
* Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion
* Enters outpatient prescriptions
* Obtains and records patient drug histories
* Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders, and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate
* Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight
* Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order
* Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed
* Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols
* Maintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs
* Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations
* Is responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications
* Assists with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training

* Computer skills
* Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems
* Insurance and Billing Experience
* Experience working with specialty medications in a health system setting
* Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experienc

* PTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee
