Pharmacy Tech IV Room Lead - Pharmacy - IV (1.0 FTE)

The Lead IV Room Technician is responsible for assisting with oversight and maintenance of the safety, quality, and efficiency of sterile compounding processes in the IV Room. 

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

Training staff in sterile technique and IV Room procedures Oversight of IV Room cleaning and stocking Managing the daily workflow of the IV Room Working with the Pharmacy Buyer to assure adequate medication and supplies Assisting with USP 797 and USP 800 compliance Identifying and assisting with quality improvement activities Oversee tasks of other pharmacy technicians, students, and residents assigned to the IV Room and provide feedback to leadership on staff performance Performs other pharmacy technician duties as assigned 

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:  Knowledge of systems of measurement (e.g. metric system) and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and conversions within and between systems of measurement.  Knowledge for aseptic technique in the compounding of IV admixtures. Knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 requirements.  Knowledge of effective strategies to teach and mentor other staff. Knowledge of basic differences in drug therapy in different patient age groups from neonates to geriatric patients.  Knowledge of drug nomenclature including brand and generic names. Knowledge of pharmacy law and activities allowed and not allowed by law.  Knowledge of automated medication dispensing machine technology, bar code scanning technology, and drug ordering systems. Knowledge of drug inventory systems. Knowledge and experience in the use of a computer and keyboard.  Ability to efficiently keyboard and use a 10-key pad.  Experience with Windows programs, use of e-mail and use of the internet.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Must be a licensed Certified Pharmacy Technician in good standing in the State of Montana with at least 1 year of sterile compounding experience. Certification in Sterile Compounding preferred. 

Aptitudes:  *Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and use time wisely.  *Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks at the same time. Possession of cognitive, organizational and emotional abilities to deal effectively with multiple tasks, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customer needs.  Ability to handle these situations in a calm and courteous manner that contributes to the overall efficiency and productivity of the pharmacy. Ability to accept direction from the pharmacist in charge and work effectively with the pharmacist to provide the needed services.  Ability to prioritize workload to ensure emergent and stat workload is completed in a timely manner. *Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and creativity in dealing with a variety of workload situations and demands. *Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people with different sociological and educational backgrounds.  Ability to work effectively as a team member.  *Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and complete tasks accurately. *Demonstrated high level of motivation to provide timely customer service.
