In this role. there is the opportunity to -
+ Maintain all pertinent documentation, including logs for eye wash, refrigerator, and perpetual inventory, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
+ Assist in the procurement, accountability, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational and study drugs.
+ Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of all pharmacy areas, ensuring high cleanliness standards.
+ Demonstrate a service-oriented attitude toward patients, staff, and visitors, conveying a professional image.
+ Assist in filling medication orders, ensuring correct labeling, counting, and stocking practices, and initialing products as required.
+ Prepare cytotoxic and hazardous drugs, including chemotherapy, using proper aseptic techniques and demonstrating expertise.
+ Train and mentor other Pharmacy Technicians in their ability to perform duties across all pharmacy areas.
+ Provide direction and leadership for technical aspects of medication preparation, coordinating daily activities, and maximizing productivity.
+ Ensure medications are stored safely and securely according to regulatory standards, maintaining accurate records for controlled substances.
+ Procure and maintain adequate inventory levels, including pharmacy medication stock rooms, automated carousels, and dispensing machines.
Required
+ Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required AND one of the following:
+ Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
+ Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience
+ Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System
+ Enrollment in an undergraduate pharmacy program and in good standing
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
+ Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), preferred
+ Act 34
