Role: Sterile compounding pharmacy technician
Shift: 7 days on/7 days off (Wednesday start, last day Tuesday) – 70 hours per 2-week pay period
Shift start: between 12pm and 1pm
Shift end: between 10pm and 11pm
Weekends: every other
Holidays: as they fall on the rotation
Job Summary:
Assist pharmacists following established procedures and policies. Prepares sterile compounded IV, irrigation, and chemotherapy solutions to be checked by a pharmacist. Works only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and may not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
Job DescriptionPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Compounds, packages, and labels drugs. Maintains all required records and utilizes a computer system to run labels. Consults with a pharmacist and monitors for duplicate or conflicting entries. Complies with all sterile compounding regulations, standards, and policies. (i.e. USP 797 and USP 800). Calculates dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.Helps to ensure accurate documentation and billing to ensure compliance. Works with pharmacist and prescriber to resolve rejections and/or questions to facilitate the timely disposition of orders.Maintains a safe, clean, and sterile work area in accordance with established policies and procedures. Performs and documents daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning practices and environmental testing. Disposes of all materials per policies and procedures that are used when mixing hazardous or non-hazardous IVs.Follows all procedures for documenting and dispensing controlled substances. Handles controlled substances in a manner that ensures accountability and security.Assures medications are available for patients by assisting in inventory control including ordering, checking in orders, stocking shelves, updating the inventory system, rotating stock, and processing recalls.Conducts periodic inspections where sterile compounding components are stored in the pharmacy for outdated and unusable components and quarantining them in a separate area from usable stock.Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Performs other duties as assigned.

Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.Frequent keyboard use/data entry.Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.Rare climbing.REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
