Troy - Casual/PRN position
Job SummaryUnder the direction and supervision of a Pharmacist, performs a variety of functions related to preparation, storage, distribution and dispensing of prescriptions. Within the Hospital, rotation through IV admixture and unit dose service is routine. Rotation to OR Pharmacy Services and Outpatient Pharmacy Services may be required. Performs data entry and other record keeping functions as determined to be necessary to the operations of the department.
Essential Functions
Hospital In-Patient Pharmacy:
1. Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.
2. Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products
3. Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms.
4. Inventories and restocks shelves in immediate work area, checks for outdated drugs.
5. Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy, documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy.
6. Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital.
7. Performs necessary record keeping functions.
8. Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window.
9. May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required.
10. Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner.
11. Follows appropriate clean room (797) guidelines in the preparation of intravenous admixtures.
