Job Summary:

The pharmacy technician assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of the registered pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups, which includes geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal,

Qualifications:

Required:

High school graduate or equivalentRegistered Pharmacy Technician with NJ board of PharmacyPharmacy Technician Certification Board-PTCB- certification within 6 months of employment,

Preferred:

One year Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience preferred with good interpersonal relationship skillsCertifications and Licenses Required:Registered Pharmacy Technician with NJ board of PharmacyPharmacy Technician Certification Board-PTCB- certification within 6 months of employment,

Scheduling Requirements:

FTNight 10:30pm-6:30amRotated holiday coverage and overnight coverage for vacations as appropriate

Essential Functions:

Maintenance of all Procedural Pyxis machines in OR, CathLab, L&D, and other miscellaneous areasResponsible for refilling Pyxis, maintaining inventory counts, checks for and removes expired medications from stock, dating short dated products for stock, and other tasks in line with OR and procedural areasAssists when needed to fill patient specific medications, Pyxis refills, and cart fills and delivers to nursing units as assignedRestocks code carts and code boxes for patient care areasMay need to prepare and labels extemporaneously compounded non-sterile pharmaceuticalsAnswers and directs telephone calls and other inquiries including those from medical staff and nursing staff in a professional and courteous mannerKnowledgeable of changing policies and proceduresCompletes department and organization competencies and training as assigned
