Pharmacy Technician - Clear Lake Campus (up to 19 hrs/wk) **Webster, Texas, United States** **New** Allied Health UTMB Health Requisition # 2406384 **Minimum Qualifications:** **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE** **Required:** + High school diploma or equivalent **LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS** **Required:** + Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) + **OR** + Registered as a _Pharmacist_ Intern with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** + ACPE approved IV (sterile products) certification a plus **JOB DESCRIPTION** The Pharmacy Technologist assists Pharmacists in providing drug distribution, technical services, and clinical services associated with the preparation, storage and dispensing of pharmaceuticals. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** + Prepares unit-dose medications specific to patient needs including patient’s weight, allergies, and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). + Retrieves and delivers medication orders and supplies. + Prepares sterile products utilizing aseptic technique and USP 797 standards + Compounds bulk and extemporaneous pharmaceuticals specific to patients needs including weight and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) utilizing USP 795 standards. + Demonstrates the ability to operate automated technology including compounding, repackaging, cartfill and Automated Drug Systems. + Communicates effectively with other pharmacy employees, healthcare professionals, and patients while appropriately recognizing age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). + Maintains adequate drug inventories in pharmacy areas and patient care areas and notifies the appropriate personnel when shortages and/or outages are noted. + Performs quality assurance/improvement audits + Maintains a neat clean and organized work area. + Demonstrates flexibility in staffing assignments. + Assists pharmacists in filling ambulatory prescriptions specific to patient needs including patient’s weight, allergies, and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). + Assists in record keeping activities in any assigned area. + Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. + Performs related duties as required. **WORK SCHEDULE** This position is for up to 19.99 hours per week, with no benefits. Variable schedule for coverage.
