Pharmacy Technician I, Inpatient Pharmacy
Position OverviewUnited Health Services (UHS) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented entry-level Pharmacy Technician I to join our Inpatient Pharmacy team. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician I will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy department. This position functions as a generalist, assisting with the preparation and processing of medications and prescriptions for patients across various care areas. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient dispensing environment, ensuring safe and timely medication distribution in accordance with department protocols and regulatory standards. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Pharmacy Services, UHS Wilson Medical Center Primary Work Shift: Rotational Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Compensation Range: $17.98 - $25.17 per hour, depending on experience ----- Sign-On Incentives: Up to a $2,500.00 sign-on bonus for candidates who meet eligibility criteria. Talk with your Recruiter to learn more Job Responsibilities + Assist pharmacists in preparing, counting, labeling, and packaging medications for dispensing to patients and healthcare providers + Enter and process prescription and medication orders into the pharmacy information system accurately and efficiently + Maintain proper inventory levels by restocking medications and supplies, checking expiration dates, and assisting with inventory audits + Deliver medications and pharmaceutical supplies to appropriate patient care areas in a timely and organized manner + Prepare unit-dose medications and compound non-sterile products under pharmacist supervision, following proper guidelines and safety standards + Operate and maintain automated dispensing equipment and pharmacy technologies as directed + Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy work area, including workstations, storage areas, and dispensing equipment + Receive and store pharmaceutical shipments according to regulatory and organizational procedures + Assist with medication returns, recalls, and proper disposal of expired or unused drugs + Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare staff by answering non-clinical questions and resolving routine concerns within the technician's scope + Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies regarding pharmacy operations, patient privacy (HIPAA), and medication safety + Participate in ongoing training and professional development to meet certification requirements and maintain competency in pharmacy practices Position Qualifications Minimum Required: + High School Diploma or equivalent + Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Board (PTCB) within eighteen (18) months of employment Preferred: + Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or successful completion of a pharmacy technician training program ----- Why You’ll Love Working at UHS At United Health Services (UHS), we believe every connection—to patients, to purpose, to each other—makes a difference.
