Major Responsibilities:
Processes and releases orders using pharmacy dispense queue.Oncology order set up through gathering drug, diluent, base solution, tubing, filters, labels, as well as anything else required for compounding.Delivers patient medications to patient’s rooms and medication room areas.Maintains inventory, reorders, restocks, and monitors expiration dates of all medications in the pharmacy as well as floor stock medication provided via Pyxis.Familiar with pharmacy technology and equipment. Capable of troubleshooting technical problems.Prepares and packages all forms of medications. Maintains required documentation in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements and maintains respect for patient confidentiality.Generates necessary pharmacy reports.Conducts medication room inspections in assigned patient care area in accordance with regulatory requirements.Assembles drugs in an accurate and efficient manner.Repackages bulk drugs and supplies into units of use containers.Maintains a clean work area and assists in quality indicator monitoring.Assists with yearly inventory in assigned areas.Participates in identifying problems or areas for improvement and assists supervisor with problem solving projects and improving operations.Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and/or teams.Prepares intravenous (IV) drugs using aseptic technique in compounding cytotoxic chemotherapy, targeted monoclonal antibodies, immunotherapy, oncolytic viruses and other IV drugs.Cleans IV room floors and surfaces according to institutional policy.
