Pharmacy Technician I

Full-time, Night Shift, 3 nights on, 1 off, 3 nights on, 7 days off. Hours are 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM. Rotating Weekends and Holidays.

Purpose:
Responsible for the proper storage and distribution of drugs; receives and accounts for drugs coming from all vendors. Delivers drugs to patient care and other areas; picks up drug returns and applicable paperwork; and puts all returned unit-dose products back to proper receipts. Responsible for filling patient drug boxes, floor stock orders, and automated dispensing cabinets. Assists Pharmacists as directed. Maintains daily reports.

Responsibilities:

Accurately fills floor stock requests. Prepare correct labeling for bulk drugs. Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations. Basic understanding of the concept of physical stability and chemical stability as it relates to parenteral pharmaceuticals. Correctly interpret physician orders and can distinguish between pharmaceutical orders, laboratory tests, radiology, nursing, and other orders. Perform monthly medication storage area inspections. Selects drugs from stock in the proper dose, dosage form, and quantity as ordered by a physician under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Understands microbial contamination and exhibits Aseptic Technique while preparing sterile pharmaceutical products. Repackages drugs into a unit of use container.
