Pharmacy Assistant\/Technician (In Patient)\n

Pharmacy Technicians\/Inpatient assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians\/inpatient work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.\n

Roles and Responsibilities:\n\nProcures and distributes medications per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols.\nReplenishes medications in automated dispensing units and emergency drug containers; rotates and manages stock before expiration date; generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required.\nPrepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques.\nComplies with sterile compounding regulations and practices.\nRepackages bulk medications in unit-dose packages safely and accurately per established procedures using appropriate techniques.\nAssists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, storing and restocking medications and supplies in appropriate locations while maintaining records, pricing updates, and other required documentation accurately\nCompletes and documents all assigned medication storage areas inspections at least monthly; identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.\n\n

Required Skills and Experience:\n\nEducation - High School diploma\/equivalent.\nMust be at least 18 years old\nDemonstrates flexibility in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above\nCertification and Licensure - Certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program (NHA\/PTCB). Must attain New York State licensure for Registered Pharmacy Technicians within the introductory period of hire.\n\n

Preferred Skills and Experience:\n\nExperience - 2-3 years pharmacy technician experience preferred, but not required.\n\n

Location and Travel Requirements:\n\nOnsite\n\n
