Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, performs technical medication dispensing functions in compliance with written policies and procedures; performs a variety of clerical and mechanical medication support duties including the servicing of automated dispensing cabinets, repackaging medications, label preparation activities, information system data entry assignments, stock maintenance functions, maintenance of computerized logs and records, and medication delivery to patient care units; performs other routine departmental support activities approved by the Pharmacy Director. Under a pharmacist's supervision, a pharmacy technician is licensed to enter prescription orders into hospital information systems and select medications for filling prescription orders as permitted under Washington State administrative code. A Pharmacy Technician may also compound sterile medication admixtures after meeting approved experience and training requirements. These qualification standards are specified in the Pharmacy Department Training and Orientation policy and procedure.
