Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting in the oversight of the controlled substance inventory. Assists in the maintenance of the appropriate records to ensure compliance with state/federal regulations.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the assisting pharmacy management in the oversight of controlled substance utilization at the ministry. Oversight includes, but is not limited to: training staff on controlled substance policy and procedures, trouble shooting and reporting of issues/discrepancies with controlled substances.Audits controlled substance utilization throughout the organization and assists nursing management, chart auditors and pharmacy staff with any potential diversion of controlled substances.Conducts surveillance reviews of the Pyxis System, CII Safe, and other areas where controlled substances are stored to proactively identify potential diversion or misuse of controlled substances. Completes investigations related to discrepancies and reports them to pharmacy administration.Provides workflow support to end users related to controlled substance automation.Maintains controlled substance records according to state and federal regulations. Maintains transaction records for all controlled substances.Works with pharmacy management to evaluate opportunities to improve the controlled substance policies and procedures to mitigate diversion. Assists pharmacy management in making reports to the appropriate regulatory agency when a diversion event is suspected/confirmed.Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Performs other duties as assigned.

Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.Frequent keyboard use/data entry.Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.Rare climbing.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
