Supervise the daily operations of the assigned pharmacy area/services. Assist in developing and implementing department specific goals and objectives to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of Pharmacy Infusion operations. Responsible for the assessment of patients including development, evaluation, and modification of the plan of care. Interpret and perform complex patient care procedures specific to area of expertise. Work is performed under limited supervision. Direct report to the Manager, Infusion Pharmacy Services.

Manage the daily operations of the Infusion Services in collaboration with the Maanger, Infusion Pharmacy Services.Oversee the preparation and timely distribution of medications.Monitor delivery of checked medications in a timely fashion.Assist in all areas of distribution, including medication preparation, medication deliveries, etc.Supervise the proper storage and security of narcotics and other controlled substancesIdentify possible risks in process, procedures, devices and communications and report to management.Implement and maintain area-specific responsibility grids and shift/daily checklists.Coordinate and participate in the preparation of sterile admixtures, dispenses all pharmaceutical and related supplies in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations that govern pharmaceuticals.Assist in the assimilation of new technology into the medication use process including robotics, automated dispensing machines, automated compounding equipment, and computer software programs with medical informatics applications.Assist with and ensure the maintenance and care of department equipment and supplies; maintain department records and files.Attend meetings and participate on various committees representing the department as needed.Review department performance, identify gaps and implement changes in collaboration with the Manager of Infusion Pharmacy Services to improve services.Accountable for ensuring that assigned area clean and organized; maintain area-specific records and files.Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations and UMMS policies and procedures.Participate as a member of the Patient Care Team by providing supervision and delegating duties to other Care Support Team members.Provide direct patient care within the scope of a Clinical Pharmacist.Interact with nursing staff and medical staff to provide optimal patient care; evaluate and respond to suggestions and/or complaints.Receive and review physician orders to ensure the prescription meets patient specific needs (e.g., age, organ function, weight, etc.).Develop Pharmaceutical Plan of Care for patients based on diagnosis, patient care needs and outcomes.Establish patient care priorities based on essential patient needs and available resources.Serve as a clinical and informational resource to physicians and other health care team members, patient and patient’s family members.Communicate with nursing and medical staff concerning prescriptions, orders, drug and pharmaceutical detail, patient reactions, errors, complaints, and related matters.Advise providers regarding drug interactions, incompatibilities, and appropriate modes of therapy on the use of medications, dangers, side effects, and composition; complete supporting documentation as required.Foster a culture of collaboration, problem solving, innovation, continuous learning, and a one team mindset.Mentor staff in both technical and soft skills to craft a team of highly competent, consistent, thoughtful, and customer-centric experts.Perform supervisory functions including hiring, discipline, training and development, and prepare performance reviews in accordance with UMMS policies and proceduresPerform other duties as assigned.Company DescriptionThe University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is an academic private health system, focused on delivering compassionate, high quality care and putting discovery and innovation into practice at the bedside.
