Pharmacy Technician Supervisor - Galveston

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent Five (5) years of pharmacy technician experience, including two (2) years of supervisory experience

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) National Certification; required to maintain PTCB active status.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree  Human Resource Certification Project Management Certification Lean/6 Sigma Certification Medication Safety Certification Financial Management Certification Supply Chain Management / Procurement Certification

JOB DESCRIPTION

Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for the operation of the assigned pharmacy areas, including pharmacy business, purchasing and inventory control, human resources, medication safety and operations

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Supervises and manages the operation of the assigned pharmacy areas, including inventory control, controlled substances record keeping, and maintenance of drug information reference materials. Performs all pharmaceutical care and drug distribution duties required of Pharmacy Technologist and Senior Pharmacy Technologist. Supervises and manages the administrative functions of the pharmacy business office, including human resources management, financial management, office management, and procurement and inventory management. Supervises, manages, orients, trains, and evaluates all assigned staff and supportive personnel. Addresses quality improvement opportunities while participating in various hospital patient care committees. Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures. Prepares personnel work schedules and ensures adequate staffing when absences occur. Interviews/hires job applicants for vacant positions. Develops proposals for new pharmaceutical care, pharmacy operational, and pharmacy business services. Prepares work measurement reports and makes budget recommendations to the Pharmacy Business Office leader. Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

WORK SCHEDULE

Primarily Monday - Friday Days. Must be willing to work other shifts as needed for emergencies and urgent staffing issues.
