Position Summary:
The technician will work to obtain patient home medication lists from relevant sources, including but not limited to patient or family interview, discharge medication lists, prescription bottles, and phone calls to retail pharmacies, physician offices, and nursing homes. They will also document in the electronic medical record and clarify allergy information, as well as home pharmacy. The technician will be responsible for communication of relevant medication and allergy information to a pharmacist. They will help promote the safe and effective use of hospital and pharmacy technology throughout the Tidelands Health System. The technician will be responsible for working with all other departments throughout Tidelands Health to ensure accurate and timely medication history collection. In addition, the technician will triage any issue related to medication or health compliance to appropriate staff as needed (case managers, transitional care coordinators, and care coordinators through Tidelands Community Care Network). The technician agrees to support the goals, objectives, and proper function of the department and the hospital to provide positive patient outcomes while maintaining patient confidentiality. The technician will comply with the policies, laws, regulations, and standards that govern the practice of pharmacy as well as those of the hospital. The technician will maintain an appropriate level of competency to perform the job duties as required by the department, the hospital and any regulatory agencies.
Experience:
One (1) year of pharmacy technician experience requiredPrior retail and/or hospital-based experience preferredLicense/Certification:
Technician registration with LLR/SC Board of Pharmacy required. Nationally PTCB Certification preferred.Knowledge/Skills:

High School diploma or equivalent requiredHigh School diploma with specialized training in an accredited Pharmacy Technician program preferredOther:
-Hours: Minimum of 40 hours per week based on the needs of the department; occasionally subjected to irregular hours or days.
-Generally incumbent will work in a well-lighted, well-ventilated, heated/air conditioned environment under secure working conditions.
