Location/Division Specific Information
We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen, currently with about 500 employees, whose “high-end” measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets.

Join our world-class team as a PhD Student as R&D Scientist (m/f/d) at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. in Bremen, Germany. You will play a vital role in groundbreaking research that enhances data processing and analysis in the scientific community. The work is part of project FULLMAP (Fully integrated, autonomous & chemistry agnostic Materials Acceleration Platform for sustainable batteries) which is funded by the European Union.
A day in the Life
Lead research projects aimed at significant data reduction by up to 70%, improving efficiency, and preserving analytical quality.Develop and efficiently implement software-based solutions compatible with a wide range of ICP-OES instruments and workflows.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure flawless integration and scalability of new technologies.Conduct experiments, analyze data, and resolve best methodologies to achieve research goals.Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and progress to collaborators.Stay current with the latest scientific advancements and integrate relevant techniques into our research initiatives.Keys to Success
Enrollment in a PhD program with a strong emphasis on Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Confirmed experience in R&D, with a strong understanding of data processing and analytical techniques.Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.Strong programming skills, preferably in Python or similar languages.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.A passion for innovation and a drive to compete at the highest level of scientific research.What we offer:
