Philanthropy and Research Intern- Summer 2025

Rocket Community Fund is the philanthropic arm of Rocket. We aim to simplify complex and inequitable systems to ensure that every American has access to stable, healthy housing, especially in our home city of Detroit.

As a Philanthropy and Research Intern, you’ll work at the intersection of community investment, social impact, and research-driven solutions. This role combines hands-on experience with the Rocket Community Fund’s Education and Employment and Housing Stability initiatives. Your contributions will support both impactful day-to-day philanthropic projects and provide actionable insights through targeted research to inform the direction of future investments.  You’ll balance responsibilities across education and employment initiatives while leading a focused research effort on implementing a home repair escrow model in Detroit.

About the Role

Education and Employment Initiatives:

Assist in the development, execution, and evaluation of programs that promote education and workforce development.  Conduct research on trends, opportunities, and community needs related to education and employment.  Support the preparation of grant proposals, performance reports, and stakeholder communications. Organize and coordinate community events, including volunteer activities and program workshops.  Collaborate with team members and partners to align initiatives with organizational goals and community priorities.At least, weekly meetings with Education & Employment Senior Program Manager to address barriers and stay informedAttend Education & Employment team and any relevant working group meetings

Housing and Research Project:

Conduct in-depth research on home repair escrow models and related financial tools.  Engage with key stakeholders, including members of the Citywide Home Repair Task Force (CHRTF), experts at Rocket, housing finance experts, and community organizations.  Identify opportunities, barriers, and best practices for implementing a sustainable home repair escrow system in Detroit.  Prepare a comprehensive research report with actionable recommendations and potential pilot project frameworks.  Present findings to the Rocket Community Fund team and CHRTF stakeholders.At least, weekly meetings with Housing Stability Senior Program Manager to address barriers and stay informedAttend Housing Stability team and any relevant working group meetings

About You

We are seeking a dynamic and thoughtful individual with the following qualities:Preferred

Qualifications:

Familiarity with Detroit’s housing landscape and community dynamics.  Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Curious, detail-oriented, and a critical thinker.  Independent and capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.Collaborative and skilled in engaging with diverse stakeholders.
