Job Description
This role involves traditional phlebotomy responsibilities, including processing, centrifuging, and specimen splitting. A significant focus is placed on customer service and data entry using the LabCorp Touch system. Training is provided in the second week, with preparation for entering orders and specimen processing. Approximately 70% of the role involves drawing blood.
ResponsibilitiesEnter orders and perform data entry using the LabCorp Touch system.Call doctor offices to confirm patient information.Draw blood from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric patients.Process and ship specimens efficiently.Clean and restock the work area.Achieve a daily target of approximately 120 blood draws.Essential SkillsProficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture techniques.Experience with centrifuge operation.Strong data entry skills.Excellent customer service abilities.Knowledge of medical records and specimen collection.Additional Skills & QualificationsCompletion of CPT and BLS certifications.Hospital experience is highly desirable.Experience with geriatric patients is beneficial.At least one year of active phlebotomy experience preferred.Work Environment
The work environment is a busy patient service center, requiring standing for 50% of the time. Coverage can change daily within the hours of 6 AM to 6 PM. The training program lasts two weeks, with a 40-hour work week during the second week. Employees must be open to floating between five locations, including Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, Foothill Ranch, and Laguna Beach. The position involves collaboration with another phlebotomist and operates in a laboratory and medical environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.11 - $23.11/hr.
