Phlebotomist
Job Title: Phlebotomist I MobileJob Description The main function of a Phlebotomist I Mobile is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections, and ensuring the integrity of the specimens during transport. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment. + Update patient information and handle specimen collection including urine and fecal as required. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Understand and follow all physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. + Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately label them. + Follow specific procedures as outlined by protocol to maintain specimen integrity for transport. + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department training sessions. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed, as required in some states. + Minimum of 2 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with venipuncture, phlebotomy, and specimen collection. Work Environment This position operates in a fast-paced lab environment where you will be expected to handle multiple tasks efficiently. You will be working with various technologies and equipment necessary for specimen collection and processing.
