Outpatient Lab Phlebotomist
Performs invasive procedures on patients in order to obtain specimens for the purpose of analysis in accordance with standard laboratory and hospital procedure, appropriate to the services provided and to the ages of the patients served.
ResponsibilitiesPerforming venipunctures and heel/fingersticks according to departmental policy and procedures. Performing therapeutic phlebotomy. Handling, collecting and dispersing biological specimens for analysis. Assuring adequate maintenance of supplies as well as neatness in appearance of the phlebotomy area. Adheres to safe working practices and applies the policies and procedures regarding safety into the work environment.
QualificationsHigh school diploma and one full year as a part-time phlebotomist or six months as a full-time phlebotomist or successful completion of a phlebotomy training program and at least 100 documented successful venipunctures and 25 documented succcessful skin punctures. Certified with an accredited agency or certification eligible.
