Phlebotomist
Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description Exhibit proficiency in all aspects of blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, including pediatric blood collections and difficult draws in medical office buildings. A comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety is essential, along with the ability to effectively communicate the importance of these aspects to other employees. The role requires the ability to provide orientation and training for patient service technicians. The candidate will work with pediatric patients under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead. The schedule predominantly involves 3rd shift hours from 10pm to 6:30am. Responsibilities + Perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups + Execute pediatric blood collections and manage difficult draws in medical office buildings + Ensure compliance with safety regulations and communicate their importance to other employees + Provide orientation and training for patient service technicians + Work with pediatric patients under supervision + Maintain excellent attendance and behavior records + Be flexible with shifts and hours + Travel to various Medical Office Building labs throughout South Orange County Essential Skills + Phlebotomy + Venipuncture + Neonatal and pediatric blood collection + Experience in an acute or sub-acute setting + Computer proficiency with lab systems (e.g., Cerner) + Customer service skills + CPT 1 License + High School Diploma Additional Skills & Qualifications + At least six months of experience, preferably one year in an acute or sub-acute setting + Hospital experience is a plus + Experience in outpatient settings (LabCorp, Quest, etc.) with the ability to draw 45-55 patients within an 8-hour shift + Experience in inpatient settings with the ability to draw 20-30 patients within an 8-hour shift + Minimal experience with neonate and pediatric draws on actual patients Work Environment High volume work in Medical Office Buildings (clinics). Upon permanent placement, work will transition to the main lab in the hospital. The role involves traveling to various draw stations located in Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Mission Viejo, and Tustin, CA. The department is currently addressing a number of leaves of absence and long-term vacancies. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
