Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to perform collections from patients using venipuncture, finger sticks, or other skin puncture techniques for routine, timed, and stat orders. The ideal candidate will accurately identify patients, collect and label specimens, ensure specimen integrity, and follow safety procedures, particularly when disposing of contaminated sharps. Additionally, this role includes performing phlebotomy at nursing homes, accessioning laboratory test requests, and preparing samples for transport.

ResponsibilitiesPerform collections from patients using venipuncture, finger sticks, or other skin puncture techniques.Accurately identify patients and collect specimens indicated in the orders.Label specimens accurately and verify specimen integrity.Organize and clean phlebotomy stations and/or collection bags.Follow safety policies and procedures, paying special attention when disposing of contaminated sharps.Perform phlebotomy at patients’ residences in nursing homes.Access laboratory test requests and key patient demographics into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).Verify pertinent patient information for laboratory testing and billing purposes.Verify information on requisitions for accuracy and obtain additional information as needed.Enter specimen information into the LIS.Prepare samples for transport or shipment to Central or Reference Laboratories.Ensure proper IATA process completion as required.Process orders through the reference laboratory’s electronic health record (EHR) system.Perform quality control (QC) on specimens before transport.Essential SkillsPhlebotomyBlood drawAccurate patient identificationLocating laboratory orders placed by authorized personsProcessing and packing specimens for transportCustomer servicePhlebotomy certificationAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentAt least 1 year of phlebotomy experience (inpatient or outpatient)Experience working with geriatric patients, including those who are bedriddenCustomer service experienceValid driver's license and acceptable traffic abstractAbility to drive a company vehicle to different nursing home locationsWork Environment

You will report to the Aiea office and use a company vehicle to travel to nursing homes. The position requires availability from Sunday to Saturday, 5:00 am – 1:00 pm, with rotating weekends.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $24.00/hr.
