Job Description We are looking for a dedicated Phlebotomist who has experience in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, and updating patient information. The ideal candidate will collect and store specimens according to established procedures and properly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner. The role requires demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles and fully understanding all physicians' orders. The shift for this opportunity is 9AM-5:30PM MTWF and 12PM-8PM TH. Responsibilities + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Understand all physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. + Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match the script 100%. + Package specimens for transport. + Store specimens at required temperatures and in appropriate containers, accurately label them, and follow specific protocols for transport to maintain specimen integrity. + Attend annual department training sessions. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. + Other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications + Valid phlebotomy certification + Minimum of 6 months work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting + Capability to handle high volume specimen collection + High School Diploma or GED Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
