Job Title: Certified Phlebotomist II

Job Description

The main function of a Certified Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The Phlebotomist II will be responsible for blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles.Label and process specimens, including centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required.Record maintenance data and decontaminate work areas.Update patient information accurately.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.Essential SkillsPhlebotomy Certification required2-4 years of experience requiredStrong specimen processing skillsSpecimen collectionPatient careAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with pediatrics and geriatricsPatient triage experienceWork Environment

The work environment includes handling various specimens, using centrifuges, and following strict procedures for specimen storage and transport. The Phlebotomist II will work in a healthcare setting, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00
