Essential Functions
Perform a variety of specimen collection techniques from patients in a hospital setting including outpatients and inpatients. Additional duties specific to a location may include reception, collection of billing information, specimen processing and client and customer service duties. A phlebotomist maintains a professional relationship with patients, clients and peers. A phlebotomist must also be able to exemplify Trios' standard of excellence in customer service. Performs all tasks in accordance with the Company's safety and compliance programs. Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, WA state Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Certification. At least 6 months or more of recent, directly related experience to include 3 months practicum gained in a clinical, hospital or laboratory setting. Able to handle stressful situations caused by high volume and deadlines. Ability to perform blood drawing procedures, to include venipuncture and capillary techniques, using standard equipment such as vacutainer tubes, tourniquets, syringes and butterfly needles. Maintain inventory of supplies, reordering as required; stocks supplies on carts and hand trays. Train new hires in the laboratory and outside the laboratory on proper phlebotomy techniques and procedures. Ability to perform blood drawing procedures, to include venipuncture and capillary techniques, using standard equipment such as vacutainer tubes, tourniquets, syringes and butterfly needles. Interact directly with patient to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears, and elicit cooperation.Qualifications and requirements
High School diploma or equivalent Associates degree or two years of college preferred At least 6 months of recent, directly related experience to include 3 months of phlebotomy practicum gained in a clinical, hospital or lab setting. WA State MA- Phlebotomist or MA-C license.EEOC Statement
