Phlebotomist Job Description

•    Maintains a clean and safe phlebotomy area; monitors inventory, restocks supplies, orders supplies as needed.
•    Follows proper PPE and safety protocols.
•    Monitors lab patient registration/check-in status.
•    Retrieves and reviews patient orders.
•    Retrieves and reviews appropriate paperwork/supplies/orders related to patient’s appointment prior to escorting to the phlebotomy area.
•    Greets the patient with a smile and escorts to the phlebotomy area. 
Exhibits professionalism and patience when interacting with patients. 
•    Collects specimens according to policies and procedures; verifies specimen integrity. Exhibits skill in phlebotomy procedures with minimal discomfort for patient and minimal recollections.
•    Processes specimens for in-house as well as send-out testing. Accurately documents collection information into the computer system; processes electronic and/or manual orders for the send-out testing.
•    Follows all policies, procedures and regulations of the laboratory
