Description:Responsible for the collection of blood on all inpatients 24/7/365. Position requires an experienced, highly-skilled phlebotomist who can work with a minimum of supervision. Must be kind, caring and compassionate. Must be a Team worker.Properly identifies out patients by verbal confirmation and positive identification system.Properly identifies the inpatients using the hospital identification wristband and scannerProperly identifies and labels patients specimens for  Blood Bank testing using the positive patient identification system.Properly identifies patients and adequately performs venipunctures and/or skin punctures.Uses appropriate aseptic technique to draw blood culturesClearly and accurately labels all specimens immediately after venipuncture and completes necessary documentationEvaluates specimen adequacy Receives specimens in the computer and delivers them to the appropriate departmentMonitors inventory levels and follows appropriate protocol for re-ordering suppliesDeletes or cancels orders as necessary with full documentation of reason and colleague they spoke with.Collates requests, answers the telephone, delivers specimens to appropriate department and operates the pneumatic tube Always demonstrates proper telephone etiquetteConsistently assumes responsibility for calls, correctly answers questions, directs inquiries and takes messagesAdapts work schedule to meet emergency staffing needs Is responsive, courteous, respectful and cooperative in completing tasksCollects TIMED and STAT tests within designated time periodMaintains supplies, carts, workstations in a neat, clean and orderly mannerPerforms other related duties as required

Qualifications:

High School Diploma/Equivalent required

Phlebotomy Certification preferred
