Assumes responsibility for the direct supervision of the laboratory phlebotomists. Communicates with Laboratory Director and other supervisors on a regular basis concerning the activities and functions of the phlebotomy area. Must have a positive attitude and strive for service excellence. Must demonstrate a willingness to listen and to accept constructive criticism. Must uphold the facility’s leadership values. Must set a positive example to the employees and maintain confidentiality in sensitive matters.

Responsibilities

Upholds hospital and laboratory leadership values.  Leads by example.  Maintains confidentiality in sensitive matters.  Responsible for the direct supervision of the PM and Night shifts.  Stays proficient in skills needed to work as a CLS in all laboratory sections.  Responsible for overseeing the technical functions related to the PM and Night shifts and resolving problems related to those shifts.

Enforces the Policies and Procedures of the laboratory.

Qualifications

Must possess a valid phlebotomy certificate.  Minimum five (5) year’s phlebotomy experience.  Minimum two (2) year’s supervisory experience.  Demonstrates leadership and administrative ability.   Must have good interpersonal and organizational skills.  Must meet the qualifications of unlicensed personnel to perform venipuncture.
