Responsibilities

We are seeking a Phlebotomy Technician I (PRN), also referred to as a Phlebotomy Tech at Saint John Hospital a member of Prime Healthcare. The Phlebotomy Technician I will be responsible for drawing blood and handling specimens, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and transport to the lab. They also maintain equipment, adhere to quality and safety protocols, record patient data, and collaborate with other departments to ensure effective patient care. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PRN.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the processresponsible for correct blood collection, draw blood from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques; ensure proper identification and labeling of specimensorganize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing, ensure all specimens are properly processed and storedadhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens and ensure accurate test resultsmaintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensure everything is in working order and properly sanitizedperform more complex or specialized phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

high school diploma, or equivalent, requiredBLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current, requiredminimum of two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience, preferred
