Join our team as a photojournalist and help us tell Alabama's story! As a photojournalist and multimedia producer, you will tell the visual story of Alabama through powerful photos and videos. Your coverage will span a variety of topics, including breaking news, politics, sports, culture, and community events. Your work will be featured across Alabama Media Group’s digital platforms, helping to inform and engage a broad audience while making a significant impact in visual storytelling. Our newsroom is a digitally focused, multimedia environment where every day presents new stories. You may find yourself documenting updates to a news story, working on long-form photo stories or videos, updating archives, editing topical short videos, building online galleries or social media posts, interacting with readers, brainstorming future coverage with colleagues, and traveling the state to capture diverse stories and landscapes—all while optimizing your work to capture and retain audiences. The base salary range is $50,000 to $55,000 per year. **Keys to success in this role:** + Demonstrate creativity by bringing fresh ideas and innovative approaches to visual storytelling. + Work effectively with colleagues across various departments to enhance story development. + Navigate the fast-paced nature of news reporting and adjust to changing priorities with ease. + Conduct thorough research to ensure accuracy and depth in your visual stories. + Tailor content to resonate with diverse audiences and enhance viewer engagement. + Show a genuine interest in understanding and depicting the diverse cultures, traditions, and communities of Alabama, and be open to exploring new ideas and perspectives. **Our ideal candidate will have the following:** + A degree in journalism or communications, or equivalent education or work experience in photojournalism and visual storytelling. + Minimum two years experience and demonstrated proficiency with camera equipment, image editing software, and video shooting/editing is required. + Ability to operate and obtain drone certification is preferred. + Ability to convey stories through images, video and text, with a solid understanding of journalistic ethics and story structure. Strong narrative skills are essential. Your ability to engage and build audiences through compelling visuals is key to making an impact. + A proactive approach to work under deadline pressure, prioritizing tasks effectively and staying updated on industry advances. + Proficiency in delivering content across various digital platforms and understanding audience engagement methods. + Ability to build relationships and interact with empathy and sensitivity.
