A News Photographer works with an experienced team of dedicated, award-winning television journalists. Responsible for shooting and editing news stories for broadcast and operating video backpacks for live shots (TVU and LiveU). Must have experience with videography and editing, a sharp eye for visual storytelling, and a strong desire to own the big stories. Our news photographers work a variety of hours, including nights and weekends.
A college or vocational degree is preferred but not required. Priority is given to candidates with professional experience in television news or production photography or proof of a successful internship.
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and the willingness to work flexible hours. EOE M/F/D/V ~ Background check required.
Position Summary: The News Photographer operates television or video cameras to record images or video for news and sports reports. They also do live shots and edit videos for newscasts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Shoots video for news/sports reports
· Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, logistics, and shot requirements
· Sets up, composes, and executes video shots
· Maintains video equipment
· Edits video for television broadcasts and digital content
· Operates live backpacks (TVU, LiveU) and live truck
· Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The News Photographer must be able to stand, sit, conduct telephone conversations, use email, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the News Photographer must be able to lift, set up, and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and be able to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
