We are seeking a qualified Photonics Experimentalist to join the Physical Sciences & Systems and Quantum, Photonics, and Computing groups in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The candidate should possess a solid theoretical background and experimental experience with a broad range of applications in multi-disciplinary fields related to photonics and quantum technology.

The candidate will join a world-class team advancing and executing projects in photonics and quantum technology, as well as expanding to new directions in emerging photonically enabled sensing, computing, communications, and information processing technologies. As a member of our team, you will be applying your skills and ingenuity to execute sophisticated experiments and developing novel concepts with high risk and high payoff.

Basic Qualifications:

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent discipline; or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent discipline and 4+ years of experience.Demonstrated experience with photonic integrated circuits, fiber-based optics, and free-space optics.Capable of independently leading photonics experimental efforts including planning and setting up experiments, writing and using software for instrument control, data acquisition, and signal processing; and performing and validating the results.U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Work Location:

This is an on-site role. Candidates must reside or relocate within commuting distance of Cambridge, MA. Please consider the following role type definition as you apply for this role:

Onsite: Employees who are working in onsite roles will work regularly in the office.

The salary range for this role is 90,000 USD - 182,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
