Job Summary
The job description and criteria based job performance evaluation emphasizes the criteria expected in the performance of the Manager of Therapy Services. The Manager of Therapy Services is responsible for supervising and managing the full range of therapy services including; Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy in all settings. The Manager will work closely with administration and physicians in planning and implementing an effective program which can be highly utilized and financially productive. The Manager will lead this department with the highest ethical standards as laid out by the practice acts of the therapists.
Essential Functions
Establishes priorities for the Therapy department Provides knowledge of rehabilitation standards. Provides patient assessments and ensures documentation is completed per policy and data recorded in appropriate areas in the patient medical record. Ensures short and long term goals are documented with objective measures and time frames, and outcomes are documented according to objectively written goals. Provides therapy interventions are selected based on assessment results and are appropriate for age, cognition and or development of the patient, with regards to interdisciplinary team plan. Demonstrates understanding of contraindications and precautions with applications of modalities based on patients age and associated risks. Consults physician regarding referrals for other services, or any problems associated with patient progress or lack of progress. Demonstrates competence in necessary technical skills, (see separate competency checklist). Utilizes AIDET principles with patients and staff on a consistent basis. Coordinates therapeutic activities with other team members and departments to maximize patient’s response to therapy. Integrates patient/family in discharge planning and education for a safe transition to home, including ensured continued care needs are met. Stays abreast of current developments in rehabilitation and attends/leads in-service sessions as requested/volunteered for staff. Employee reflects NRH’s sensitivity to the hospital’s ethical and compliance principles and supports the Ethics and Compliance Program in his or her daily activities. Attends clinical staffing and provides/seeks input to/from others on patient care. Demonstrates respect for patient rights by maintaining confidentiality and serving as a patient advocate. Offers positive suggestions/solutions to improve service delivery and unit operation, and contributes to and cooperates with the implementation of system improvements. Provides services with respect to human dignity and the uniqueness of the client, unrestricted by consideration of social or economic status, personal attributes, or nature of the health problem. Demonstrates a complete knowledge of the correct use of all forms/computer skills required in the day-to-day operation of specific unit. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Physical Therapy required 1-2 years Therapy Leadership at some level previously. preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to effectively lead and manage a team of therapists and support staff. Deep understanding of physical therapy and rehabilitation practices. Skills in budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation. Knowledge of state, federal, and industry regulations and ensuring compliance. Ability to provide high-quality patient care and develop treatment plans. Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions. Skills in staff education and professional development. Knowledge of managing and maintaining therapy equipment. Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare departments and professionals.
Licenses and Certifications
PT - Physical Therapist State License required
