Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will plan and administer medically prescribed physical therapy and injury prevention services for patients to restore function, eliminate pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body part. You will review and evaluate referrals and patients medical records to determine therapy treatment required, and sign off on referrals and Athletic Trainer and technician notes. You will evaluate patients to determine current levels of function/dysfunction using standardized and clinically accepted measurement and evaluation tools. You will plan and prepare written treatment programs based on evaluation findings and available patient data, and through integrated coordination communication with the dietician and the Strength and Conditioning staff. You will design plans to meet patient and clinical objectives in order to maximize restoration of functions. You will peak with patients, families, caregivers, and other health care professions to facilitate the multidisciplinary treatment process. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Provide of a wide range of professional rehabilitative and physical therapy concepts, principles and methodologies in the care and treatment of patients following neuro-musculoskeletal injury; carry out treatment using therapeutic techniques such as exercise, massage or use of physical agents in accordance with internal policies; document evaluations, treatment sessions, quarterly summaries, and closing summaries to ensure continuative client services; educate and motivating patients in non-manual exercises; and act as a liaison between patients and health care providers to ensure appropriate progression or implementation of patient care. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. NOTE: Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic (OCS) or Sports Physical Therapy (SCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association, and/or certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) is desired. Education Basic Requirements: Education: Successful completion of a graduate or higher level degree that includes: A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs(external link) (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained; and Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy(external link) (FSBPT). NOTE: Applicants who have completed an approved graduate level curriculum and who subsequently completed additional graduate training in a specialized field of clinical practice designed to assure professional competence to practice in the specialty meet the requirements for GS-11.
