Physical Therapist Assistant

**UPMC Somerset is looking for a Physical Therapist Assistant to join their team!**
This is a casual role that will work daylight hours, Monday through Friday, and will be scheduled on an as-needed basis, to support the needs of the department. No weekend or holiday shifts are required!
**Purpose:**
Provides physical therapy treatment in accordance with the plan of care established by the physical therapist. Recommends changes in treatment plan to the supervising physical therapist based upon the patient's condition and response to treatment. Maintains work area in a neat, orderly fashion. Directs therapy volunteers. Performs clerical responsibilities as required by the facility. Transports patients as necessary in a safe, comfortable, courteous, timely and professional manner via prescribed transport vehicles.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Attends and actively participates in staff meetings, staff development, departmental committees, and in-service education programs.
+ Consistently utilizes and provides appropriate supervision to clinical support staff in accordance with Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.
+ Completes necessary charge/statistical information to accurately reflect services documented and rendered to patients
+ Competently provides appropriate, comprehensive, and skillful therapeutic interventions based on treatment programs that have been developed by a physical therapist for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of practice permitted by the Physical Therapy Practice Act of practicing state.
+ Competently assists physical therapists in the survey of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of practice permitted by the Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.
+ Maintains written/electronic documentation that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization for all clinical services rendered including documentation of changes in a patient's status, cancellations, and the treatment intervention administered. Ensures documentation is cosigned in accordance with the facility-specific guidelines and the Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.
+ Rotates through selected treatment areas and/or facilities when necessary to facilitate organizational needs
+ Appropriately requests and actively provides objective feedback to supervisors regarding department performance and emergency situations.
+ Schedules to achieve and maintain a level of productivity that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization.
+ Demonstrates clinical ability to implement the treatment program within the plan of care outlined by the physical therapist in accordance with patient response to treatment and/or change in patient medical status to maximize outcomes. Recognizes information that requires alteration in the plan of care and notifies the physical therapist in an appropriate and timely manner.
+ Demonstrates clinical ability to implement the treatment program within the plan of care outlined by the physical therapist in a fashion that reflects current scientific and clinical knowledge to effectively achieve established outcomes/goals.
+ Graduate of a Physical Therapist Assistant program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association with an associate's degree as a physical therapist assistant.
+ Must possess the knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.
+ Must possess knowledge of normal human growth and development over the lifespan.
+ Must be able to read, understand, analyze, and interpret medical record documents.
+ Must be skilled in planning/organization, follow-up/control, problem-solving, self-development orientation, organizational behaviors/competencies, and stress tolerance.
+ Must possess the ability to apply principles of logic and strategic thinking to a wide range of problems, and to deal with various abstract and concrete variables.
+ Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
+ Must possess the ability to identify referral growth opportunities.
+ Demonstrated ability to interact with the healthcare team, coworkers, supervisors, and all members of the Corporate Management Team.
+ Active participation with healthcare industry professional organizations is preferred.
+ Must complete all mandatory competencies for system, CRS business unit, and/or facility.
+ Must complete CRS Orientation, Facility-specific Orientation, and Department-specific Orientation(s) where appropriate.
+ May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
+ Physical Therapist Assistant OR Physical Therapist Assistant Indirect Supervision
