Physical Therapist-ECH

Job Summary: The Physical Therapist-East Campus will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive and advanced program for physical therapy.  Will include performing patient evaluations, goal setting, integrative treatment planning, follow-up assessments and ongoing patient and family education.  Provides care according to Physical Therapy, Medical Center policies and procedures and the application of treatment techniques in accordance with discipline specific designated practice act.  Is responsible for providing outpatient services under physician's orders.  Fosters a constructive and supportive approach to department operations.  Promotes professional, collegial relationships.  Understands economic constraints and practices are designed to conserve resources.  Supervises Physical Therapy Assistant and Rehabilitation Technicians when indicated.  Opportunities to participate in and initiate clinical research trials, involving physical therapy and patient treatments and/or outcomes.  Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Physical Therapy required.  Suitable combination of education, training or experience along with a California license in Physical Therapy is acceptable.  No experience required.

Knowledge and Skills: Ability to independently operate required equipment, assessment tools, HME equipment,  copy machine, fax machine, answer telephone,   Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.  Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.  Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.  Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Currently licensed by California Board of Physical Therapy. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.  CCS-Paneled required if assigned to Pediatric Rehabilitation or fulfill CCS paneling requirements within twelve months from hire date. Valid driver's license required at time of hire.
