Our hospitals, care sites and clinicians are recognized for clinical and operational excellence. **_Physical Therapy Assistant Opportunities- Acute Care_** **_Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, VA_** **_Full time, Days_** **_Note: Prior Acute Care experience preferred_** **Primary Function/General Purpose of Position** The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to performance improvement activities as applicable, problem solving, and productivity. **Employment Qualifications** + The incumbent shall be a graduate of an APTA approved Associate’s degree program or shall have completed equivalent training, and hold an applicable and current state license or certification to practice. + Experience working with adult and geriatric populations is desirable. + Experience working in the acute care setting is desirable however is not required + Current BLS certification required or obtained within ninety days of completing new employee orientation. **Essential Job Functions** **Clinical Area** + Provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions as directed by the Physical Therapist. + Monitor patient response to treatment. + Document the course of patient care in the electronic medical record including progress made and continuing need for treatment. + Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that support continued functional independence and document same in the electronic medical record. + Collaborate with the Physical Therapist to develop new methods of delivering education to patients and family. + Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team.
