Works under the direction of the physical therapist to help provide rehabilitative treatment, according to the physical therapist established plan of care, for patients that have been referred for physical therapy.
Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises in a competent, professional and ethical manner.
Provides direct and indirect supervision for all assigned patients during their scheduled appointments
Helps with orientation of new PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANTS and directs and gives instructions to PHYSICAL THERAPY AIDES helping with patient care
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the meditech system
Displays an interest in the department and a consistent focus on self improvement
Maintains current CPR certification
Provides basic and emergency first aid for injured athletes, as per appropriate RGH injury protocols
Maintains a positive attitude in daily interactions with patients, visitors and co workers.
Follows work schedule and reports to work as assigned
Maintains work area in a clean, organized manner
Maintains equipment and supplies in proper order
Demonstrates the ability to actively listen to everyone
Reports to: Director of Physical Therapy
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent Required
Associate’s degree Required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days
Required Licenses

Must possess licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of WV and must be maintained in good standing
Minimum Work Experience
Experience in the outpatient and acute care settings as a staff physical therapy assistant preferred. Current CPR certification is required.
