Position Responsibilities: 

 Appropriately administers modalities and utilizes equipment as deemed necessary based on each specific guideline. Discusses with the Physical Therapist the need for assistive devices, DME/adaptive equipment and ensures that all equipment is recommended, received and measured to fit each patient as observed by supervisor and as documented in the chart. Fits, trains and educates patient/caregiver in the use of assistive device, DME, and adaptive equipment. Discusses with the Physical Therapist the need for orthotic/prosthetic device and trains patient in use, donn/doff, and educate patient/caretaker on skin care as documented in the chart and as observed by the Physical Therapist.  Discusses with the Physical Therapist the patient’s progress, goals and plan of care and adjusts treatment approach based on patient’s reaction to it and re-asses outcome as observed by the Physical Therapist.  Completes Outcome Measure scores Functional Independence Measure (FIM) for admission, goal setting and discharge within departmental policies and procedures in a timely manner. Provides written instructions, training and education as needed to all patients/family member/caretakers, in a timely manner, as evidenced by documentation of such in the patient’s chart.   Follows patient schedule on time as observed by supervisor. Gives at least one in-service annually to staff.  Maintains State/National Licensure requirements for continuing education regulations, as monitored by the supervisor/Manager. Supervises activities of support personnel as authorized by supervisor. Voluntarily assist other therapists/assistants in completing their work and serves as a clinical expert for less experienced staff, as observed by supervisor and staff. Participates in the clinical education program (student program) as reported by the coordinator for clinical education. Participates in Performance Improvement projects. 

Qualifications:

Current Florida State PTA License. CPR Certification Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program,
