Ochsner Health – Radiology
Under the direction of the System Chair of Imaging Service Line, the Regional Chair serves in a strategic leadership role. The Regional Chair will collaborate with senior leadership at a system and campus level to lead Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to deliver quality care in a patient focused environment.
The Southshore Imaging Division has expanded dramatically over the years, more than doubling in size and scale. This region delivers comprehensive care across the Greater New Orleans (GNO) area, including an academic medical center, multiple ambulatory center, and a tertiary referral center. In addition, engagement and leadership with two medical schools and 2 radiology residency programs are critical to our workforce strategies.
Imaging across the health system has employed physicians as well as contracted physicians that work in Ochsner and partner facilities. Despite the location or partnership, all are on the same instance of EPIC and have images within our PACS database.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· As an engaging, energetic, and forward-thinking leader, the Regional Chair will lead a highly engaged and academically productive group of more than 50 physicians, including general and subspecialty focused, across more than 10 sites across the greater New Orleans Region.
· Develop and maintain efficient and effective clinical operations, exhibit a strategic mindset and promote collaborative work relationships between clinicians at all levels.
· Implement strategies to enhance imaging services, improve patient care outcomes, and optimize departmental efficiency while partnering to lead subspecialty academic growth that is aligned with the multidisciplinary programs that define the Ochsner academic medical center.
· Achieve high department performance through commitment to evidence-based imaging care, process improvement and continuous quality improvement.
· Develop an active research section focusing on clinical and outcomes research, clinical trials, data science and collaboration with other disciplines.
· Lead medical education programs, ensuring alignment with accreditation requirements and continuity into student clerkships. This includes collaborating with partners to ensure academic and research initiatives are positively contributing to patient care.
· Articulate and execute a clear vision and strategic plan for Imaging in the Southshore region in conjunction with the Imaging Service Line, amidst various strategic partnerships, such as the Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center and Andrews Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute.
· Foster professional development opportunities for staff and leaders.
· Lead efforts across the GNO region for the use of clinical data to proactively monitor, revise and develop best practice guidelines to improve patient outcomes. This includes asset management, ensuring the most appropriate technology at the right locations.
· Reduce care variation across specialties and locations, ensuring evidence based high quality care at all locations.
· Recruit and retain diverse, high-caliber faculty and trainees, who will enhance scientific advances, pursue excellence in medical education, and grow clinical operations. In addition, the Regional Chair will collaborate with stakeholders across multiple facilities in the GNO region to drive exceptional patient service, quality outcomes, faculty and staff satisfaction, growth and volume management, expanded research capabilities, and improved financial performance.
· Support strategic partnerships such as MD Anderson and Andrews Institute (amongst others) to ensure the full benefits of those relationships, including multi-disciplinary conferences, new program development, and clinical research.
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of radiology services across multiple facilities within the GNO region, ensuring adherence to quality standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
· Serve as a clinical partner to the service line and provide expertise and input into equipment selection, protocol standardization, supply stewardship, and value-based care initiatives to advance the service line to top decile performance.
· Empower, motivate, and challenge faculty and staff, while holding them accountable, as a visible and inclusive leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. Display the qualities of a team player who has an open leadership style that promotes collaborative partnership throughout the organization.
· Advance the standards of professionalism, including leadership in state, regional and national organizations.
Required Education and Experience:
· National reputation for excellence and academic accomplishment within Radiology/Imaging, along with at least 3 years of leadership at the Section or Department level
· Significant clinical experience in radiology practice, with demonstrated expertise in diagnostic imaging interpretation and clinical decision-making
· Current board certification in Radiology and/or a related imaging subspecialty
· M.D. or D.O. degree with active Board Certification through the American Board of Radiology
· Current license, or eligible for medical license, in the state of Louisiana
· Active credentials within Ochsner Health and willingness to maintain clinical practice
Preferred:
· Experience as a Chair or Vice Chair at a large academic health system.
