POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Practitioner, is a licensed Physician Assistant (PA) who provides acute care to the patients in the Neuroscience Critical Care Unit (NSCCU). The PA works in collaboration with the Neurointensivist and the multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate care and treatment to patients within the NSCCU Scope.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Must have successfully completed an accredited program for a Physician Assistant with a minimum of a master’s degree license to practice in the State of Indiana with 2 years current experience in critical care preferred. Clinical ICU rotation preferred. Documentation of prescriptive authority granted by the State of Indiana and a valid controlled substance certification must be on file in the Medical Staff Services Department prior to ordering of medications Must successfully complete credentialing and privileging process before functioning as an advanced practice nurse Demonstration of completion of an advanced physical assessment class Successful completion of the Community Hospital Personnel Orientation Programs. Completes continuing education as required by certification and governing bodies. Obtains and maintains current CPR certification Computer literacy with familiarity of Windows and data base management
