Physician Assistant
Job Details:

Summary:

The Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for collaborating with members of the Bon Secours medical group staff to provide medical care to acutely ill or injured patients of all ages presenting to the Medical Practice. In addition, the PA cares for a wide range of patients and follow group guidelines for wellness care.

 Responsibilities:

Works collaboratively with on-site Medical Practice supervising physicians to evaluate, diagnose, and treat a broad array of acute and non-acute medical and psychiatric conditions in patients 18 years and older.Recognizes emergency conditions in patients and communicates information to supervising physicians in a timely manner.Orders and interprets clinically appropriate tests.Performs Annual Wellness check-ups, follows and monitors medical group initiatives for Quality Measures.Performs procedures within the scope of practice and expertise as defined by the delineation of privileges, including but not limited to wound care and repair, abscess incision and drainage, injections, and respiratory support, etc.Coordinates outpatient referral and follow-up care plans for patients.Communicates diagnosis-specific education to patients and families/guardians.Coordinates inter-facility transfers for patients in need of inpatient services.Supervises medical, PA and/or NP students during clinical practice in the Medical Practice setting as needed.Uses an electronic medical record (EMR) to document patient encounters, places orders for patient care, views results and follows up managing patients.Practices medicine in an ethical manner consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice guidelines.Participates in medical office, medical staff, and hospital affairs as applicable.Some Saturday’s seeing patients in the office and some on call by phone.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification/Requirements

Experience: 1-3 years of experience as a Licensed Physician Assistant required.

Education: Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program required.

Licenses / Certifications:

Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) must be obtained prior to first day of employment, required.

Current New York State Physician Assistant license, required.

Current BLS certification is required.
