Physician Assistant

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Physician Assistant is a dependent Allied Health Professional that sees and treats patients by providing clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic medical services pursuant to the terms of their scope of practice. Each Physician Assistant shall have a supervising physician that agrees to monitor and accept responsibility for the medical services rendered by the Physician Assistant. The Physician Assistant is to be licensed through the Kentucky Medical Board of Licensure and to meet all requirements of the NCCPA for continued licensure. The Physician Assistant shall demonstrate and contribute to the effective operations of the organization through specific duties and responsibilities as approved by the medical staff board. It is expected that the Physician Assistant shall devote his/her attention, loyalty and best efforts to performing his/her duties under the arranged agreement with Ephraim McDowell Health and to promote the interests and affairs of Ephraim McDowell Health, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, and/or Fort Logan Hospital. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

 

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Works in well lighted, ventilated, and air conditioned area. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. There are risks to exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue, diseases, infections, and physical strains. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently.

 

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Patients, family members and significant others, physicians and Associates, other healthcare providers, community resource personnel, administrative staff and Medical Center support services.

 

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must be able to read and write and speak English.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:

Education:  Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and licensure in the state of Kentucky.

 

Experience:  Minimal four (4) years of clinical expertise preferred.

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:

Certification from NCCPA and Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.
