Physician Assistant Nurse Practitioner Urology
Job Summary

Geisinger Northeast Urology team has an opening to join their group in Pittston, Pennsylvania! In collaboration with the physician, provides care to new or established patients. Demonstrates autonomy through patient evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care. Orders testing as deemed necessary and remains proficient in interpreting results and prescribing appropriate medication and therapeutic regimen within the scope of practice of the physician assistant. These roles, undertaken in cooperation with nursing, staff physicians and other department staff, may include triage, telephone communication and patient education.

Job Duties Schedule is as follows:12-hour Sunday night inpatient coverage. Sunday 7:00 p.m. – Monday 7:00 a.m.3.5 clinic days coverage during the weekRotation between clinic and inpatient coverage. No OR time.Assesses and establishes a presumptive diagnosis and implements treatment plans for their patient population.Makes accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record; orders and interprets diagnostic testing and consults as appropriate and prescribes appropriate medical therapy utilizing evidenced based practice.Prescribes, adjusts or discontinues medications or therapies as appropriate.Evaluates and reports to collaborating physician any circumstances or approaches to medical management or test results that present a significant risk to patient's health or well-being.Performs procedures within the scope of practice of the physician assistant license.Communicates with collaborative physician, patient, PCP and referring staff through telephone or other means of correspondence.Instills confidence in patient acting as their advocate by providing safe, ethical care and health education to the patient and their family in a language that they can understand.Interprets and follow policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals and deadlines.

Performs initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.

Keeps track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discusses with physician, and returns call to family and patient regarding the results and plans.Assists with arranging appropriate follow-up for the patients.Answers and returns phone calls from established patients and their families and assess the needs of patient and family.Discusses plan with the physician and relays information to the family and patient.Obtains or assists in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.which the employee is qualified to perform.Screening patients.

Position Details

Perform, under the responsibility and supervision of the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. Assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. Act as a patient advocate in the medical care system serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between the patient and physician.
