The Smidt Heart Institute is home to a distinguished team of experts who are setting the bar for cardiovascular care in the United States. The Institute unites 16 centers and programs to diagnose and treat the full spectrum of heart and vascular conditions for all patients, from infants to those with advanced disease. Summary of Essential Duties:

As a Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant, you will provides services primarily in the outpatient setting, including managing, planning, and coordinating of all aspects of care for patientsProvide consultative services within the scope of serviceObtain and perform history and physical examinationsRecord and interpret pertinent data (i.e., labs, diagnostic studies, progress notes, etc.), including writing ordersEvaluate, diagnose and treat patientsWrite progress notes, collate records utilizing the electronic medical recordCoordinate ongoing overall patient care with physician, staff, nursing staff and other ancillary care providers to ensure treatment plans are implementedMaintain communication with patients and families regarding careDemonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to deliver care appropriate to the appropriate patient population, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care neededServe as a patient advocate throughout the care process, and represents the medical center at regional and national meetings/conferences
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's DegreeGraduate from a PA program approved by Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid California PA licensePA certification issued by national Commission on Certification of Physician AssistantsDEA License requiredBLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
