This position serves as Residency Program(Teaching Position) Physician Family Practice at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC),  Fort Eisenhower, GA.

Responsibilities

As a Residency Program Physician (Family Practice), you will:

 

Member of the core teaching staff and residency continuity group leader providing a full scope of family practice services for patients with acute and chronic illnesses. Serves as the primary care physician for infants, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients who have both acute and chronic illnesses and conditions covering the entire spectrum of medicine, including general and subspecialty surgical, gynecologic, psychiatric, occupational, and other illnesses and conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, vasectomies, deliveries). Patient care includes: evaluation, examination, and diagnosis, ordering of appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests, interpretation of the total medical evidence and instituting proper treatment to patient. He or she is responsible for determining when to seek advice and guidance.

Refers patients to specialty clinics or consults to admit patients to the hospital when appropriate. Follows full care of all patients and insures return form consultant. 

 Supports 18 Family Practice resident's education and the training of over 40 medical students annually. Provides technical oversight of resident and Government Service Civilian and contract Health Care Provider (NCP work. Interviews Residents. Determines acceptability, rejection or correction of work products or services and similar matters.

 

Serves as consultant to the clinical staff working in the FPC, directing them relative to diagnoses, therapy, or disposition of patients with various medical problems. Helps establish the standard operating procedures governing the daily practice of personnel working in the residency. Incumbent must also hold a degree in Medicine or Osteopathy from an approved U.S. Medical School or such a degree from a foreign medical school in conjunction with evidence of successful passage of ECFMG or FLEX test, and a current license to practice in the Unites States or Puerto Rico. Incumbent must be Board certified/eligible in Family Practice or have equivalent training, experience or expertise. 

 Provides oversight for the Residents as team leaders of his or her continuity Team. This involves establishing work schedules, assigning and prioritizing work, providing input for performance standards, validating work, approving/disapproving leave for residents, interviewing and selecting candidates, effecting disciplinary measures and providing advice and instruction to residents and medical students on technical work and administrative matters. 

4. Accomplishes special quality assurance studies. Provides advice, professional consultation/opinions and written technical studies and professional reviews in support of the various boards and committees within DDEAMC involved with evaluation of patient care and treatment. Attends Department or Hospital board or committee meetings. Supports and participates in the clinic Utilization Management and Quality Assurance processes. Develops and insures compliance with defined protocols. Renders consultative opinions to other physicians and auxiliary health care personnel. Supervises health care offered by non-physicians. Maintains health and clinical records in accordance with current regulations and standards.

Attends Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses and maintains specialty specific CME sufficient to satisfy the requirements of applicable licensing agencies and the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospital Organizations.

US Citizenship required.

 

Board Eligible/Certified in Family Medicine

 

Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
