This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings.Job Summary: Under the guidance and supervision of a Saint Francis Health System attending physician, the Physician (Fellow) provides proper and effective medical care to all patients within their subspecialty throughout the duration of the fellowship program. Additionally, this role actively participates in educational training, projects and research that is beneficial and supports the goals and mission of the health system.
Minimum Education: Commensurate education as appropriate to obtain Oklahoma State Medical License and to be board certified or board eligible in the chosen specialty at the time of hire.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: An active and clear Oklahoma State Medical License and State and Federal Narcotics. Must not be sanctioned by the Office of Inspector General or Federal Government.
Work Experience: Completion of an accredited graduate medical education program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to analyze situations accurately to make reasoned decisions and adopt an effective course of action. Skill to examine individuals to identify normal and abnormal physical and mental health findings. Ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact, especially concerning difficult and sensitive issues when dealing with the needs, problems, and/or concerns of individuals to foster productive relationships.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Performs evaluations, assessments, consultations, rounds, and patient care with attending physician review. Triages patients to the appropriate care setting. Provides accurate documentation of patient history and physical examination, progress notes, orders, consult reports and discharge summaries in accordance with all regulatory guidelines. Responds timely to calls from nursing staff, physicians, area of service and patient's families. Notifies relevant and referring physician(s) of patient care developments, medication changes, and major clinical changes. Provides and receives input to/from other healthcare providers regularly to improve, expedite, and facilitate patient care. Communicates with the patient and patient's family concerning patient's course of treatment and treatment plans, as appropriate. Remains current with developments in medicine through continuing medical education (CME) programs, staff conferences, medical literature, research, and other educational activities.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal/external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
