SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)The Gastroenterologist’s role is to provide high-quality medical care to patients suffering from conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract and liver. Providing comprehensive inpatient services as GI Hospitalist for the full spectrum of gastrointestinal diseases
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation:
Experience:
MD/DO Degree
3+ years of specialty training from an accredited program; 3+ yrs. of experience practicing as a Gastroenterologist preferred Experienced in hospital medicine with complex patients
Other Credentials:
NJ & PA licenses. Board certified/eligible in Gastroenterology
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong communication skills, highly organized, and highly productive

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSConduct regular consultations with patients to understand their health conditions and symptoms related to the gastrointestinal tractOrder, perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as endoscopies, colonoscopies and biopsies to identify diseasesDiagnose conditions like gastritis, peptic ulcers, gallstones, liver disease, and cancers of the digestive systemPrescribe and administer treatment which may include medication, lifestyle and dietary changesPerform specialized procedures for treatment, such as polyp removal or treatment of gastrointestinal bleedingDirecting nurses, residents, or other staff.Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient careStay updated on the latest research and advancements the fieldAdhere to privacy regulations and maintain patient confidentialityDocument and maintain accurate medical records for all patientsProvide patient education for managing and understanding their conditionsPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTFrequent physical demands include: Standing , Walking , Bending , Reaching forward , Wrist position deviation , Pinching/fine motor activities , Keyboard use/repetitive motion
