SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)

Hepatologists are specialists who treat disorders in the body parts such as the liver, the biliary tree, gallbladder, and the pancreas. Hepatologists typically deal with viral hepatitis and alcohol-related diseases.

Education:

Experience:

MD/DO Degree

3+ years of specialty training from an accredited program;

Other Credentials:

NJ & PA licenses. Board certified/eligible 

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong communication skills, highly organized, and highly productive

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Diagnose and treat liver diseases and disorders. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients. Perform liver biopsies and other diagnostic procedures. Monitor and manage patients with chronic liver conditions. Participate in clinical trials and research studies.Manage complications related to liver diseases. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Attend and contribute to medical conferences and seminars. Advise on the use of medications and therapies for liver conditions. Conduct regular follow-up appointments with patients. Ensure compliance with medical regulations and standards. Promote liver health awareness in the community. Develop and implement protocols for liver disease management. Provide second opinions and consultations for complex cases. Work with dietitians to develop nutrition plans for liver patients.Directing nurses, residents, or other staff.Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient careStay updated on the latest research and advancements the fieldAdhere to privacy regulations and maintain patient confidentialityDocument and maintain accurate medical records for all patientsProvide patient education for managing and understanding their conditions
